Never a company afraid to rock the boat, Microsoft has announced that they are planning to stop their support of older versions of Internet Explorer. Beginning on January 12, 2016, only the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) will receive security updates and any kind of tech support. It seems Microsoft wants everyone out there to use the same version of IE. Makes sense, right? This sounds almost exactly like what they recently did when they tried to eradicate Windows XP and to get those users to update to Windows 7/8.

So, if you’ll be using Windows 7 or 8 at the beginning of 2016, you’ll want to make sure you’ve downloaded and installed the latest version of IE (most likely IE 11) if you want to stay updated and safe from the most threats possible.
According to Techspot, a whole lot of people are going to have to deal with this change as over 20 percent of desktop computers use Internet Explorer as their default web browser. They also state that IE is the most-used internet browser out there, which was a bit surprising to me.
Although it might be a hassle for many, their choice does seem to make some logistical sense. It’s hard to keep multiple versions of programs updated and secure at the same time.
