The Metal Gear Solid series of games has been running now since Hideo Kojima and the boys at Konami created the very first version in 1998 for Sony Playstation. The game is a graphic and violent action adventure series, which follows the saboteur Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, FOXHOUND, Metal Gear Rex and a whole bunch of other characters. The plot twists, arch enemies, genetic viruses, nuclear weapons and all manner of things keep you, the player, occupied for hours. But, if you are reading this, then you have probably already completed the titles in the series so far and can’t wait for the next one; Metal Gear Solid V.
Konami have confirmed that the game will run at a native resolution of 1080p on thePS4. However, the native resolution for the game on the Xbox One will be 720p. Despite the differences in resolution, the game will run, on both consoles, at 60 frames per second.
When the game is played on the previous generation of consoles, the game will also run at 720p with internal scaling. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game run at 30 fps rather than the 60 fps that is offered on the PS4 and Xbox One.
The creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima, had previously praised the graphics competency of the PS4, saying that it could render 1080p at 60 fps “with room to spare.” Would this statement indicate that the Xbox One is not capable of rendering graphics at 1080p with the 60 fps frame rate? Kojima said that of both Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles, he thinks the PS4 has the better hardware.
Metal Gear Solid V will be launched on March 18 in North America and on March 20 in Europe.
